DieQua Attends Two Association Meetings in April 2015

DieQua is a member of several profession industry associations. More than just for marketing reasons or for rubbing elbows with potential customers, association membership fosters professionalism and provides networking and educational opportunities. DieQua sent representatives to two association meetings during the month of April.

Sales Manager Mary Delafeld traveled to Austin TX from April 22nd to the 24th to take part in the annual meeting of the PTRA, or the Power-Motion Technology Representatives Association. The PTRA is a not for profit association of professional outsourced sales agencies and the manufacturers that support them in the fields of power transmission and motion control products.

This is an important association for DieQua as the majority of our field sales are supported by manufacturer rep agencies. In fact, 75% of our sales partner organizations are members of the PTRA. A key benefit of joint membership is the shared values of professionalism and ethical operating standards.

Besides the opportunity to meet both individually with each of the attending representatives to discuss territory goals, as well getting together as a group to address shared issues, there were a number of educational sessions and networking events to meet prospective future partners.

The educational sessions covered a range of topics including overcoming obstacles, creating better manufacturer/representative relationships, integrating millennials into the workforce, managing mobile technology, and marketing the rep agency model. All provided insightful tips and tactics for improving operations and interactivity.

From April 29th to May 2nd Director of Sales and Marketing Chris Popp and Motion Products Manager Tom Kahn hit the road to New Orleans to attend the Spring meeting of the AHTD, or Association for High Technology Distribution. For almost 30 years the AHTD has worked to increase the productivity, profitability and market share of their Automation solution Providers and the Manufacturers that support them.

This is another important association for DieQua as a significant portion of our motion products sales are through our regional high tech distribution network. This is a growing sales channel for DieQua so the opportunity to meet and interact with the premiere automation products distributors from around the continent makes this an anticipated event. Held twice a year, this gives us the chance to strengthen relationships with existing partners while meeting and developing new ones with prospective partners.

Most meeting schedules are similar with networking events and educational sessions. The AHTD is particular strong in this regard with a variety of networking opportunities and several strong speakers. With over 275 distributor and manufacturing personnel attending more events for meeting and greeting are required. A special highlight of the meeting was a mini trade show where over 40 manufacturers were able to introduce new technologies to the distributor attendees.

Educational sessions included ways to deliver innovation in spite of the daily grind, achieving goals through the Four Disciplines of Execution, finding the right sales person, creating differentiation from the competition, an economic forecast, and the trendy topic of incorporating millennials into the multi generational work place.

A particular observation was the inspiring progress New Orleans has made in restoring its luster after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. It was a lesson in overcoming obstacles that was not lost on those whom were able to witness it.
