Sales Agent Bootcamp Recently Convened

Seventeen sales professionals arrived in Bloomingdale IL on Sunday September 12th for DieQua’s annual National Sales Meeting. Coming from Boston, Los Angeles, and everywhere in between, the group gathered for a welcome reception at Real Time Sports Bar and Grill to bond with their sales colleagues and mingle with DieQua employees.

Several new members of the sales team were attending their first DieQua meeting. Outside Sales Manager, Mary Delafeld, made the rounds introducing newbies to veterans making for a lively environment with lots of conversation.

The boot camp reference in the headline fore warned the impending schedule of technical sessions and workshops that were to be squeezed into the next day and a half we would be all together. With several new product introductions and application exercises, downtime would be at a premium.

The business end of the meeting started Monday morning with a review of the marketing programs and the expectations for follow up of the growing number of inquiries and opportunities it was generating. Also presented was the new pricing policy in which several product lines saw a price reduction, possible due to several factors.

The first technical session highlighted our newest product line, the Varvel worm gearbox. Features, benefits, and sales strategies were outlined for this economical yet high quality right angle gearbox targeted at general purpose power transmission applications.

After a working lunch the next technical session focused on a review of torque limiter basics and finished with an introduction of the new R+W series ST torque limiter. This is a large scale safety device which includes four sizes with capacities from 10,000 Nm to 160,000 Nm. This new series creates the widest range of torque limiters, from small to big, available from a single source.

The third and final technical session of the day included a review of the six primary application types that are most appropriate for our long standing line of Tandler spiral bevel gearboxes. These are likely the best bevel gearboxes in the world. And with the extensive range of models, configurations and options, along with customization capabilities, this product line can satisfy unique design requirements like none other can.

After this, everyone involved in the day’s activities were ready to take a break from the constant flow of information. To relieve some of the stress and mind bending DieQua President Mike Quaas had a wonderful evening planned. Everyone was loaded on a bus and transported to the Lake Michigan shores of Downtown Chicago. There we boarded a boat for a three hour dinner cruise. The weather cooperated with clear skies, warm temperatures, and limited wind. The views of Chicago’s sky line from the lake and the interesting perspective from the Chicago River were spectacular!

Tuesday morning’s first technical session introduced WATT Drive’s servo gearhead program. While the main product line was well known, newly designed adapters for servo motors and recalculated data for motion control applications opens up new markets for this product group. These include several inline and right angle configurations with high torque capacities and better prices for larger requirements than traditional planetary and planetary/bevel designs. Pilot applications have been extremely successful leading to a full launch of the program.

The final session was a breakout workshop led by our Product Support Specialists. A series of actual applications, covering the full range of our product line, were reviewed. From initial phone call to data collection to solution determination to order placement, the entire sales process was covered. This helped to hone the consultive skills of the attendees, which is a major differentiator of Diequa’s value.

The entire meeting was high paced, filled with valuable content, and well received by our sales partners. While most surely had to go home and review the immense amount of new information for it to sink in, all were energized and motivated to get back into the field to assist our customers and introduce our unique capabilities to new prospects.
